Public Sails

a2-public-sail

America II offers two public sails every Saturday and Sunday.  The purpose of these sails is to share the beauty and experience of America II with more people.

These sails can be a passive experience where you sit back and watch the crew put America II through her motions.  Or they can be an interactive experience where you help the crew grind the winches trim the mainsheet and maybe even steer the boat!  Just let the skipper know what you would like to do and whether you have previous sailing experience.

The two sails are:

  • 12 noon to 3 p.m.
  • 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.

These sails are offered to people who help support and preserve America II.  There are two levels of support you can offer.

Regular Level

If you make a donation of $150 or more, you will be invited to join one of these public sails.  This is a great way to begin your involvement with America II.

Premium Level

You can upgrade to a premium experience by making a $250 donation and after sailing, you will be invited aboard the 157-foot mega yacht “Arabella” for the exclusive Moet & Chandon champagne toast.

Make your donation and get your tickets on Zerve by clicking the button below.

If you need any help making the donation and getting invited on a sailing trip, please call: Toll-Free: 877-294-3977 or Local: 917-722-8227

Each sail is limited to 6 passengers.  There will also be an America II crew on board to help run the boat.

Reservation policy – reservations can be changed or canceled up to two weeks in advance at no charge.  because of our limited space on the boat, we cannot change or cancel reservations within the final two weeks.

You are making a donation to the NY Harbor Sailing Foundation which is a non-profit recognized by the Internal revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) organization.  Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.  The non-deductible portion of the Regular Level is $50 and the non-deductible portion of the Premium Level is $100.

Sails are weather dependent and we do not sail in high winds over 25 knots or in thunderstorms.  A few times each summer, sails have to be canceled because of weather.  If we know a sail will be canceled we will contact you by email or phone.  In most cases, we try to go forward, even in high wind and just put up reduced sail.  We know your time is precious and many of you only have one chance to participate.
